As I slowly begin to know myself again and understand that even though I feel like I missed the last year of my life that I am not the same person, and cannot go back to be her, I've had to find things that I do like. When people ask me what my hobbies are I always panic a little inside because I think "OMG I don't have any because I can't do anything, and don't really have any friends so then I look like a loser because all I do is watch TV and clean". I used to love to just hang out with people...and I still do, I just also need time to myself, and I can't quite figure out the balance between the two yet.
I love to do arts and crafts though, and in the past couple months that has been my outlet. So I think that I will redirect my focus onto making this into a craft site, so that other people who use crafts as an outlet may find some ideas.
I'm going to start with my birdcage light! G and I found an old birdcage at a yard sale, and I had no idea what I wanted to do with it but I knew i had to have it. So it sat out on our porch for a week or so until I decided that we needed a light in our bedroom. There is no ceiling light (not even a hole for one) so all we had was a swag light that he put over my vanity to give me some light (it looked like something out of a horror movie with just a lightbulb hanging around).
I spraypainted the birdcage red and then just took the light and put it in the middle. There are other examples of people who actually used pendant lights or christmas lights, it doesn't really matter, just depends on your taste and how much light you need from it. I think christmas lights would look really neat wrapped around parts of it. Swag light kits can be found at any hardware store for about $20, and you will also need the actual part the lightbuld screw into (I'm not an electrician so I think that is all, and the directions seems pretty easy to connect and make them work).
I used a hook in the ceiling to hang it at the height I wanted, and Voila! Let there be light!
I am going to try to remember to take pictures of the steps .... I'm not a very detail oriented person and I don't usually follow directions, it's more trial and error until I get something I like.
